History does not live in the textbooks. Together, let us rediscover our past, learn how it informs the present, and co-create a brighter future for the Philippines.
Fundación Santiago is committed to the delivery of quality, value-added, development interventions in the service of vulnerable segments of our population, by supporting micro-entrepreneurship, within a Community Based Heritage Tourism (CBHT) framework, in a manner which is sustainable; and mindful of our culture and our environment.
• to contribute to a strong grasp of national identity by promoting and sustaining historical awareness;
• to contribute to true, sustainable, and equitable national development by promoting entrepreneurship and commitment to community.
Community Based Heritage Tourism (CBHT) is a program that aims to alleviate poverty by fostering the cultural, historical, and environmental heritage of a specific locality.
The CBHT framework is an inclusive common bottom up approach toward poverty alleviation in a manner that not only promotes but rests upon the cultural, historical, and environmental wealth of a specific community. Within the said framework, Fundacion Santiago has identified the enterprising, under-served (men, women, and youth) as its primary target group of beneficiaries. In varying degrees of involvement, Fundacion has co-created CBHT experiences in Kawit, Cavite; San Sebastian, Sta. Ana, Manila; and the Abatan River, Bohol.
To unleash the spirit of selfless service, in each and every one of us, Fundacion Santiago has developed a Volun2rism Program.
Volun2rism encompasses programs and projects which foster the synergy between the spirit of volunteerism and tourism, whose aim is to integrate social development and cultural heritage. The V2M offers a variety of tourism packages wherein travelers have a unique opportunity to share their time, talent, technology, and treasure and experience the country’s heritage while enjoying moments of rest and recreation. Fundacion Santiago implements its Volunt2rism Program in partnership with local POs and NGOs.
